POSITIONING

You meed to see yourself as a business owner. You are a brand. You want to work for the clients you want to work for - and for them only.

My USP is that I am a copywriter and screenwriter who comes from a background in fine art, film theory, filmmaking, and performance. My benefit to you is that I am both ideas/concept driven but that I also have a unique ability to thread that concept into a story in order to sell the products, services and businesses that you want to market.

I have completed art residencies and film labs all over Europe, from Amsterdam to Rotterdam to Turin and back to Dublin and Belfast, as an artist and screen writer and so I am accustomed to concepting ideas individually and in teams, in developing creative projects with other creatives, producers and directors, with very specific remits in mind and to very strict deadlines. Alternatively, I have also worked in teams of filmmakers and creatives in the art departments of large scale film productions like Game Of Thrones, The Northman, Venom 2 and Dungeons & Dragons and I am very comfortable working with designers, heads of departments, clients, script editors, producers, directors and indeed funding bodies. 

With my own screenwriting, I work in many different genre from Commercial Art House Drama to Science Fiction Horror Thriller, to Comedy Horror, and with an MA in Film Theory, I can bring a wealth of knowledge about character building, tone, and audience desire to apply to any project, from the crazy to the very serious. I am currently writing for Fantastic Films on my horror film about the industrial fishing of mermaids, whilst I am also working with my mentor, Ali Doyle, and her company, Mental Pictures, on two more of my horror films and another company, Keeper Films, is currently reading a proposal of mine based on a period drama called Sailor Town.

As well as concepting and creating projects and working with teams and individual creatives, I love to pitch, especially to large audiences. This summer, 2025, I won The Pitching Competition at The Galway Film Fleadh with my gothic horror feature film, The Body & Blood about the life of The Vigilante Cannibal Nun. The only way to do this successfully is to practice and to understand what I am selling/pitching, inside out, in terms of genre, the story, character wants, needs and motivations and indeed the market for the film as a whole.

As I have stated, I work with concepts and ideas in the development of advertisements and scripts alike. These evolve in trying to decipher and understand the wants, needs and desires of the buyer / market / audience. I can then turn my findings, along with the concept, into stories and, if need be, scripts of advertisements. My headlines and sub headlines come from interrogating the creative briefs of what I am working on to discover what are the deep benefits.

I am finding, more and more, that comedy and humour are a great way to sell as well as to workshop and write.
